Guildford Hydro Project

Derwent hydro refurbished and installed a 1930s turbine for Guildford Borough Council in 2005-6. At 48kW peak output this system makes a significant contribution to local energy supply. This project showcases DHPL’s ability to supply skilfully refurbished old machines as well as provide innovative new solutions for potential hydro sites. This project attracted significant funding from a variety of sources and the predicted output for this site was exceeded by the final installation, further reducing the Council’s payback period. The civil engineering component was undertaken by Geoffrey Osborne Ltd.
